HMRC endorses working relationship with BASDA

Date posted:
23/04/2009

BASDA members benefit by sharing knowledge and expertise and working effectively as one voice to address strategic issues and evolving legal, political and technical influences that affect the business software industry.

BASDA works with its members to influence standards from the outset and ensures that they are implemented with market and government credibility. Engaging closely with members, government departments, other industry bodies and the EC, BASDA influences and promotes compliance.

BASDA has been a key player in setting up the mechanisms to ensure that HMRC involve the industry closely and discuss planned developments early and also in defining their strategy for the provision of online filing products - all of which benefits the industry, HMRC and most importantly, taxpayers.

John Harrison, Head of CCD Online at HMRC, comments:

'The relationship between HMRC and BASDA (and indeed all industry representative bodies) is a very important one as we increasingly move our customers to the online channel. It is very helpful for HMRC when individual companies speak as one voice through their industry bodies and, although our relationship with BASDA has sometimes been difficult, we are now collaborating closely together with more effective communication in that members can actively provide feedback through BASDA special interest groups and forums.'
