Members win Green IT Awards
The Green IT Awards were a chance for readers of Green IT Magazine to reward the outstanding environmental products, suppliers and projects of 2009, as well as to highlight companies and teams that have made a significant contribution to improving the IT industry’s environmental performance. The Green IT Awards have set out to become the benchmark by which IT companies are measured for environmental performance. BASDA is particularly pleased that the members winning awards are signatories to our Green Charter! The awards were presented at a ceremony that took place on Earth Day, 22nd April, at the unusual venue of London Zoo at Regents Park.
Access UK Ltd were proud winners of the Green IT 2010 award for Environmental Accounting Software of the Year. Access won their award for their Dimensions’ Accounting for Carbon Emissions (ACE) tool. This is incorporated free within Access Dimensions, and ensures carbon emission figures are as easily accessible as regular financial reports without the need to change existing workflows.
Causeway Technologies, via their Tradex Professional Services Team, won the Team of Year award. Members of the Team received the award for two critical projects that utilised the Tradex solution to expand paperless invoicing services, where the Team provided support and assistance during the implementations – with both projects going live at the same time!
Version One, another signatory to BASDA’s Green Charter, were thrilled to win the Best Carbon Offsetting Scheme of the Year award. Version One’s tree planting carbon offsetting scheme forms part of the company’s Clean and Green environmental initiative. In partnership with The Tree Appeal, Version One plants a tree each time a customer makes a software purchase and a reseller facilitates a sale. For every batch of 100 trees planted, ten refurbished computers are shipped to Africa for use by African school children.
Microsoft were also award winners, of the E-Commerce Innovations of the Year Award, for their Microsoft MSN.
Jairo Rojas, BASDA’s director general, was delighted to be witness to our members receiving their awards at the event on 22nd April, and commented: “It is rewarding for us at BASDA to see our Green Charter Signatories delivering on the promises of the charter to enhance their software solutions to enable customers to become part of a carbon efficient economy.”
