BASDA Green Charter

As BASDA members we will strive to play our part in combating climate change in the following ways:

  • We will take pro-active steps to increase the carbon efficiency of our own organisations such that we will be regarded as low-carbon entities
  • We will enhance our software solutions to enable customers to become part of a carbon efficient economy
  •  Via BASDA, we will engage in the debate around green ICT – including measurement, reporting, data requirements and standards
  • We will work as an industry through BASDA to educate and increase awareness of green issues as they relate to ICT and particularly business software

October, 2008

BASDA launched the Green Charter in October 2008.  A number of members have already introduced solutions that provide real benefits for customers in terms of measuring and managing their Green credentials as well as reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Why is the Green issue important to business software users?

  • The need to meet the requirements of emerging legal requirements and standards
  • The evolving green and CSR reporting needs from IT systems
  • The desire to run businesses in an ethical and sustainable manner
  • The ability to use the green issue as a catalyst to reducing costs
  • The increasing need to prove green credentials to win new business

BASDA members who sign up to the Green Charter are eligible to use the Green Charter logo on their website and other promotional media.
