BASDA is pleased to have helped influence the delay in implementation for Making Tax Digital with regard to most taxes. The focus has now shifted to Making Tax Digital for VAT which is scheduled to become mandatory for the majority of businesses in April 2019. Currently the requirements for Making Tax Digital are unclear. HMRC have not published details of requirements for business software and have not set a date when these will be made available. This makes it impossible for our members to plan the necessary software enhancements which will be required. BASDA members will continue to collaboratively lobby HMRC to release this information as soon as possible.
Aims & Objectives
Influencing HMRC Policy
Keeping members' informed
Representing members' interests
Who should get involved
All accounting and book-keeping software developers should get involved. From April 2019, HMRC will expect most VAT Returns to be submitted directly from this software rather than being input on the current HMRC portal. By becoming involved with this BASDA SIG, members can ensure that they are kept informed of emerging requirements and can help influence HRMC decisions.
