SIG Chairperson

The eInvoicing SIG is chaired by Stuart Miller, Director, Public Policy & Technology Research at Xero.

This SIG is designed to bring together software developers and representatives from industry bodies to lead the UK software industry’s response to the April 2029 eInvoicing mandate.

 

The focus of the eInvoicing SIG will be:

 

To lead the UK software industry’s response to the April 2029 eInvoicing mandate, ensuring a practical, interoperable and business-friendly implementation.

The SIG will serve as the primary conduit between BASDA members and HMRC/Treasury, while aligning UK technical standards with broader European (ViDA) and global frameworks to support seamless cross-border trade.

Who should get involved

Product Managers, CTOs, Compliance Officers and Strategy Leads within finance, ERP and accounting software vendors should get involved in this SIG to ensure they remain well-informed and are represented at Government/HM Treasury decision-making level to influence the requirements and legislation being introduced. 

Current Objectives

  • To represent the collective interests of UK software developers in consultations with HMRC, HM Treasury and the Department for Business and Trade regarding the 2029 e-invoicing mandate.
  • To define and advocate for a technical framework that prioritises interoperability, minimises administrative burden for SMEs and aligns with international standards (e.g., Peppol, EN 16931).
  • To provide members with expert guidance on the convergence of UK regulations with global trends, specifically the EU’s ViDA proposals and e-reporting requirements.
  • To facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge sharing on technical implementation, security best practices and anti-fraud measures.
