Tell us about Nexum Pensions

Nexum Pensions gives payroll bureaus a single platform to manage ongoing workplace pension administration more efficiently. It removes manual processes and reduces operational workload, helping bureaus save time while maintaining compliance at every stage.Nexum Penions logo

Simultaneously, it enables bureaus to offer employers a differentiated pension solution. Instead of limiting employees to a single scheme, Nexum allows contributions to be paid into employees’ existing pensions, addressing the problem of multiple pension pots and supporting better retirement outcomes for employees.

When did you join BASDA?

April 2026.

What was the reason for joining BASDA?

We joined BASDA because it brings together software businesses that play a critical role in supporting employers and UK businesses every day. As a company operating in payroll and pension administration technology, it’s valuable to be part of a community facing many of the same operational, regulatory and product challenges.

BASDA also provides an important platform for engagement with government and industry stakeholders. We believe collaboration between policymakers and software providers is essential to improving how employers manage payroll, pensions and workplace financial processes, and we’re excited to contribute to those conversations as we continue to grow.

What value do you hope BASDA will bring to your business?

We see BASDA as an opportunity to learn from and collaborate with other leading software providers serving UK businesses. As a growing company, access to industry insight, shared best practices and discussions around regulation and technology standards is incredibly valuable.

We also hope BASDA will help us build stronger relationships across the payroll, HR and fintech ecosystem, while giving us a voice in wider industry conversations that impact employers and employees alike.

Are there any particular topics that BASDA is championing that you are particularly interested in and why?

We’re particularly interested in the areas of payroll, pensions and payments innovation, especially the opportunity to bring payroll and pensions closer together through better technology and data connectivity.

Today, many employers still deal with fragmented processes across payroll, pension providers and payments infrastructure. We believe there is a significant opportunity to improve efficiency and employee outcomes by creating more connected and automated experiences for employers and employees alike.

We also follow developments in Faster Payments and Open Banking closely. Modern payment infrastructure has the potential to make workplace financial processes more seamless, transparent and real-time, which is increasingly important as employer expectations continue to evolve.

What are the current challenges within your industry and can BASDA help your company as the voice of industry?

One of the biggest challenges in our industry is the complexity bureaus face when managing payroll, pensions and workplace financial administration across multiple disconnected systems and providers. There is also increasing pressure on employers to remain compliant while still delivering a smooth experience for employees.

That’s one of the reasons we joined BASDA. We hope BASDA can continue to champion the role of software providers in improving outcomes for employers and employees, while helping create greater collaboration and standardisation across the industry.

Can you offer any advice to BASDA members?

Continue investing in collaboration across the industry. Employers and bureaus increasingly expect connected, seamless experiences, and many of the biggest opportunities in payroll, pensions and business software will come from providers working together rather than operating in silos.
