Hosted Application Kitemark Development:

Representatives of BASDA have held initial meetings with the British Standards Institute (BSI) to ascertain if we can gain any benefits for members from the development of a “Hosted Application Kitemark”.

The provisional areas to be covered by the Kitemark have been identified as:

  • Business Pre-requisites (e.g. ISO27001)
  • Hosting Environment
  • Hosting Operations
  • Application Resilience

Benefits from adopting such a Kitemark could include:

  • improved marketing of hosted solutions
  • enhanced purchaser confidence in solutions meeting the Kitemark requirements
  • reduced certification costs for BASDA members (e.g. ISO27001 and any resulting Kitemark).

A survey of BASDA members indicated that 60% supported the development and adoption of such a Kitemark.   We have offered to support BSI in this project and are seeking agreement on the practical steps that need to be taken to convert the idea into a new “Hosted Application Kitemark”.
